Aquatic Awesomeness at YMCA Camp Moody
On Sunday, Sept 22, over 170 of our younger Greater Austin YMCA members from three different centers gathered at Camp Moody for a wave-making, water-churning good time of a swim meet! Ranging in age from 5 to 18, these young athletes raced in a variety of competitive swimming events– several kiddos doing so for the first time at a USA Swimming-sanctioned swim meet. Coaches, parents, spectators and volunteers cheered all these swimmers to fast and fun times and an overall great experience.
Our YMCA Swim Alliance, aka “Swim Y’ALL” due to the logo, is a USA Swimming-sanctioned club team that we host at our Camp Moody, Dripping Springs and Townlake Greater Austin YMCA centers. Offering the next level of commitment to the sport of swimming beyond swim lessons and rec league swim teams, these swimmers practice and compete all year-long across two different seasons.
This past Sunday’s meet was the kickoff of the Short Course competition season, coinciding with the start of the high school and college swim seasons that compete in the same format. It is also the first of a number of swim meets to be hosted at our Camp Moody location over the next several months, preparing and qualifying swimmers for Championship meets in January and February.
Among the swimmers at Sunday’s meet were YMCA and Swim Y’ALL members that are preparing to represent their respective High Schools, including Wimberley, Dripping Springs, Hays, Buda Johnson, Bowie, Ann Richards and more, in the upcoming UIL 4A/5A/6A seasons. And, a couple of the participants are already qualified and gearing up for YMCA Nationals in the Spring and Summer!

Upcoming Closures
Camp Moody will be closed for a USA swim meet on Saturday, October 19th and Sunday, October 20th. Please visit the Hays Communities Y located at 465 Buda Sports Plex dr, Buda, TX 78610 for your workouts during this time.
