This past weekend, we gathered at Camp Moody to celebrate the donors, partners, and community champions who make Camp Moody possible. Guests got a real taste of camp life, archery, the challenge course, s’mores (of course), and guided tours around the beautiful grounds along Onion Creek. The weather showed off, the food hit the spot and our Camp Director Lauren Valentine kicked things off with a classic camp welcome that brought the energy.

We heard from YMCA leaders including Reagan Nash, Chair of the Metro Board of Directors, Brian Haulotte with JE Dunn Construction and YMCA Board of Directors, Dione Booker, Vice President of Operations and Austin Hinkle, Camp Youth and Family Director. Kathy Kuras, President and CEO of the Greater Austin YMCA, also shared an inspiring message of thanks and reflected on the continued growth of this incredible space.
One of the most meaningful moments came from Lydia P., who shared how Camp Moody has helped her son Talon grow over the past five years. Their story reminded us all why this place matters.

Camp Moody officially opened in Spring 2020, but its story began back in 1999 when George Yonge donated 100 acres of land along Onion Creek. His vision? To preserve this land and make outdoor experiences accessible to all kids. Today, Camp Moody stands as a thriving hub for day camps, outdoor education, family retreats and adventure-filled summer programming.
We’re incredibly grateful to the 77 attendees who joined us to honor the trailblazers behind this work. Whether you’ve supported with time, talent, or gifts, you’ve helped Camp Moody become a place where kids grow, explore and thrive.
