Through our partnership and a grant with the Andy Roddick Foundation, each of our EAC Y afterschool programs received 3 weeks of curriculum aligned with the following literature: The True Story of the Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and The Lorax by Dr. Seuss.

Andy Roddick Foundation’s LATT (Learn All the Time) Network has created the pilot curriculum, Reading Adventurers, aimed at youth to help ensure that children are reading on or above grade level by the fourth grade which is a pivotal point in a child’s reading development.

“The ARF Learn All the Time initiative (LATT), which consists of 38 member organizations, impacted over 74,000 youth in 2020, hosted over 40 professional learning sessions, and conducted over 70 quality observations of educational programs, all designed to ensure all afterschool and summer programs in the LATT network providing high-quality opportunities for youth to develop academically, physically, and emotionally whether programs were in-person or remote.” – Andy Roddick Foundation

Children in EAC Y Afterschool Programs made crafts based on the literature, like a Popsicle Stick Pig and Wolf based on The True Story of the Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka, created their own tree for The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, and a Hug the Earth craft for The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
