Empowering Greater Austin’s Teen Leaders

Published On: November 5, 2024Categories: Blog

Imagine: Your child, standing confidently in front of peers, debating a bill they’ve written or presenting a case they’ve worked hard to argue. They’re learning how laws are made, how to advocate for position and how to communicate effectively. This isn’t just a dream; it’s the reality for students in Texas Youth and Government (YG) programs across the state.

What is Texas Youth and Government?

YG provides high school and middle school students a platform to experience the workings of state government firsthand. Through hands-on learning, students gain knowledge in civic engagement, leadership, and the democratic process — skills that will prepare them to be future leaders.

Why Join?

YG allows students to develop critical skills like public speaking, teamwork and problem-solving, while engaging with topics they are passionate about. If your child’s school offers YG, it’s a great way for them to get involved, make new friends and grow into active citizens.
