The City of Austin Mayor’s Fitness Council recognized the YMCA of Austin with a “Moving the Needle” Award in a virtual ceremony with Mayor Steve Adler on Friday, September 17. The Y received the award for Community Engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, adapting its services to meet rapidly evolving community needs.

Happy Pride Month! We celebrate LGBTQIA+ Pride in June because of the Stonewall Riots in Manhattan of 1969. The Stonewall Riots served as the catalyst for the gay rights movement all around the world. Pride is all about the positive stance against discrimination and violence toward our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, and asexual/ally community.
